OUR BELIEFS

In a Nutshell:

>> About the Bible

We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.

>> About God

We believe in one personal God who exists eternally in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power, authority and glory.

>> About Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ to be the virgin born Son of God who lived in flesh, lived a sinless life, died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the Father.

>> About the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. We believe when a person accepts Christ as their personal Savior, they receive the Holy Spirit.

>> About Mankind

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

>> About Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way for the forgiveness of sin. God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation cannot be earned; it is a gift from God.

>> About the Church

We believe in the universal church, the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith in the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him, obeying Him and bringing the gospel to the world.

>> About Eternity

We believe in the personal, visible return of Christ to the earth and the establishing of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, and the final judgment. We believe that our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

>> About Baptism

We believe in biblical baptism by immersion. Once a person accepts Jesus Christ as their personal savior an individual can be baptized. Baptism is not a requirement to enter into heaven, it is a public demonstration of your commitment to make Jesus the leader of your life.

>> About Child Dedication

We believe Child Dedication is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful gift of life that God has given the parents. It is a chance for parents to publicly commit to raising their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord and for the church to partner with parents by providing support and encouragement as they raise their children according to the Word of God.

Dig Deeper:

>> About the Bible

We believe that the Bible is the complete, inspired Word of God, consisting in its entirety of sixty‐six books which compose the Old and New Testaments. It is the special revelation, of Himself and His plan of salvation, given through man who recorded His word in his own language as he was guided and inspired through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is fully inerrant in the original manuscripts and since God supervised their transmission, we have great confidence that our present copies of the original manuscripts are reliable. The Bible is fully trustworthy, sufficient and authoritative in all matters of faith and conduct. Mt 5:18; 2 Ti 3:16‐17; 2 Pe 2:20‐21; Heb 1:1‐2; Jn 10:35; Eph 6:17; Isa 8:20; Ps 119:

>> About God

We believe that God is triune; that there are three eternal, co‐equal, divine persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and that these three are one God. God is un‐changing from everlasting to everlasting, the creator of all things, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. 1 Pe 2:2, Dt 6:4

>> About Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity. He is eternal and was with God during the creation. We believe Jesus was sent to earth as a baby by God to be the propitiation for mankind’s sins. We believe Jesus was born of a virgin. We believe Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and was murdered on the cross of calvary in perfect design to God’s holy will. Jesus remained in the grave for three days and rose from the dead as was prophesied. After Jesus rose from the grave, He walked the earth for 40 days before He ascended to heaven where He is today at the right hand of God. We believe Jesus was both fully God and fully man. We believe Jesus is impeccable and although He was both fully God and fully man, His human nature was always in submission to His divine nature. Jude 25; 2 Tm 1:9; Jn. 1:1; 1. Jn 2:2; Rm 3:25; Mt 1:18; 1 Cor 15:4; Ps 16:10; Mt 17:22-23; Acts 1:3; 1:9; 2:33; Philip 2:5-8; Jn 1:14; 1 Tm 2:5; Jn 8:58; Jn 10:30

>> About the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. We believe when a person accepts Christ as their personal Savior, they are then baptized into union with Christ by the Holy Spirit. This is not the same as being filled with the Holy Spirit. We believe a person can be filled with the Holy Spirit with inspiration, correction, and comfort. We believe that the Holy Spirit has multiple roles in the believer’s life. Through the Holy Spirit we are given gifts to further the ministry God has for us. We believe the Holy Spirit can be grieved and His instructional and encouraging voice can be buried or quenched in our lives. We believe that once a person accepts Christ as their Savior and receives the gift of the Holy Spirit, they are then sealed and secured in their eternal state by the Holy Spirit. Mk 1:8; Acts 1:5; Jn 14:26; Acts 1:8; Gal 5:22-23; Eph 4:30; 1 Thes 5:19; Jn 10:29

>> About Mankind

We believe that man was created in the image of God; we inherited a sinful nature from Adam and were alienated from God, totally depraved and unable to remedy our lost condition. We believe that Jesus accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross. As our substitutionary blood sacrifice, He provided unlimited atonement for the sins of the whole world. We believe that the only way to be saved is by repentance toward God and faith that His sacrifice was sufficient payment for our sins. All those who receive Him are saved by grace through faith, not of works, accepted into the body, kept by God’s power, assured of their salvation and secure in Christ forever. Jn 3:16; Jn 14:6; Eph 2:8‐9; Ac 4:12; 16:31; Ro 3:25‐26; Jn 10:28; Heb 7:25; 1 Jn 5:13; Ac 20:21

>> About Salvation

We believe that because of sin all mankind needs salvation to have an eternity with God in heaven. We believe that Jesus was the propitiation for our sins, and through that sacrifice we can be justified. That justification gives us righteousness, which if we have, God then welcomes us into heaven. We believe that salvation comes by grace through faith. A person must make a conscious and true decision to accept Jesus Christ as their savior, believe that God raised Him from the dead, and make Him the new leader of their life. Rm 3:23; Rm 3:25; Rm 5:1; Philip 3:9; Gen 15:6; Eph 2:8-9; Rm 10:9; 1 Cor 15:17

>> About the Church

We believe there is both a universal Church, comprised of all believers across the world, and the local church, which is a more local and regular gathering of believers. Both churches are outside of a physical building and are instead made up of a group of believers who together share one mission and vision to spread the gospel both locally and worldwide. The church should be a place of encouragement, support, and accountability for the believer. 1 Cor 12:13; Gal 1:2; Heb 10:24-25

>> About Eternity

We believe the next church-wide event and end times prophecy that will occur will be the rapture, in which all believers will be “caught up” in the clouds where we will meet Jesus. This event is not the second coming of Jesus Christ. At this point all believers will stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ to receive rewards for the actions done for God during their life. After which we will lay them down before the feet of Christ. Believers in heaven will go through the Marriage of the Lamb, and Christ will begin a 7-year tribulation where God’s wrath will come upon the earth through what we believe is 28 judgments as stated in the book of Revelation (7 Seals, chapters 6-8; 7 Trumpets, chapters 8-11; 7 Vials, chapter 16; 7 Thunders, chapter 10). Christ will then come to earth for the second time and begin the battle of Armageddon where He will be victorious. After which He will bind Satan for 1,000 years and reign as King on earth. At the end of the millennial reign, Satan will be loosed for a season to gather a resistance against Christ. Satan will again be defeated and thrown into the eternal place called hell with all those who have followed him. There will be a Great White Throne Judgment for all unbelievers who will follow Satan into the eternal hell. God will then bring a New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem where all believers will reside for future eternity. 1 Thes 4:16-17; Rm 14:10-12; 2 Cor 5:10; Rev 4:10; Rev 6-11; Rev 19; Zech 14; Rev 14; Isa 63; Rev 20; Isa 65; Rev 21-22

>> About Baptism

We believe baptism is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe baptism is the next step for a believer following a salvation decision. We believe the only requirement for baptism is a relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that baptism is a public demonstration of the new commitment that a believer has made. We believe baptism is not a requirement to enter heaven. We believe that baptism should be done through immersion in the same manner that Jesus was baptized. Rm 6:4; Acts 8:36-38; Lk 23:43; Eph 2:8-9; Mt 3:13-16.

>> About Child Dedication

We believe Child Dedication is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful gift of life that God has entrusted to parents. It was modeled for us in the Old Testament by Samuel’s mother, Hannah and in the New Testament by Jesus’ own parents when they presented him to the Lord in the temple. Child dedication is a chance for parents to publicly commit themselves to raising their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Parents are agreeing to model Jesus for their children by choosing to honor God above all, serving others, repenting of sins and spreading the love of God to those around them. Child dedication also invites the church to become part of the extended family by providing support, encouragement and accountability to the parents as they seek to keep their commitment to raising their children according to the word of God. We do not believe that child dedication is a substitute for baptism. We practice believer’s baptism which is baptism that follows a personal decision to follow Jesus and accept His free gift of salvation. Dedication does not impart salvation to children. You can read more about what we believe about baptism in the section above. Deuteronomy 6:4-7, Proverbs 22:6, I Samuel 1: 21-28, Luke 2:22-35, Psalm 127:3-5, I Thessalonians 2:11-12, Hebrews 10:24-25
