Have you ever asked a child why they did something and received the aggravating response, “I don’t know?” Those three words are never what you wanted to hear. Why didn’t that person think before they acted? How can someone not have a reason for doing what they did? But even as adults we do this, especially when it comes to church. We come on Sunday mornings just to show up. We sit because it’s what we should do. We don’t have a reason, we just do. But the church is more than just showing up and sitting. The purpose of the church is far greater than that. The church is never a place where we should just show up. The church is a place where we should choose to actively participate. God has given the church a purpose, are you part of fulfilling that purpose, or are you just sitting in the seat?
