MATTER OF THE HEART

“You are what you eat!” — we’ve all heard and said it. While there is some truth to this statement, we know that one does not turn into a cheeseburger after leaving the drive-though. Scripture presents its readers to a similar idea: our hearts are often the source of our words, our thoughts, our attitudes, and more. Our heart, and what it is made up of, defines the type of person we are. The person we should seek to emulate the most — what we “consume” and imitate — should be Jesus Christ. Because He first loved us, we should have a heart of love for others. Because He first forgave us, we should have a heart of forgiveness. What is your heart made up of? What do you consume in your life that defines who you are?
